Regional hub for the online Building Limes Forum Conference 2021
on Saturday 6th November at Between Time’s premises

To retain the social aspect of the eagerly anticipated Building Limes Forum annual gathering, regional hubs have been set up across the UK to enable participants to join others for the 2021 conference which is being streamed online from Exeter Cathedral. Each hub will be offering off-line activities including a morning tour, lunch and dinner.
Hertford & Ware Regional Hub hosts Between Time Ltd will be treating guests to a tour of lime kiln to see hot lime working. Participants will then gather for lunch and the Building Limes Conference online lectures. The day will end with dinner (optional) where people can network and socialise.

  • Nick Durnan on the conservation of Exeter Cathedral west front
  • Berenice Humphreys of Cliveden Conservation on Wells Cathedral west front
  • Edd Walker of Cornish Lime on manufacturing standards and the test standards of modern limes
  • Arthur Needham of Vitruvius Conservation on mortar trials at Lancing College Chapel
  • Dr Jo Cox of Devon Buildings Group on materials performance at Devon Churches
  • Tobias Carleton-Prangnell of Black Pheasant Consultancy on earth lime construction and technology
  • James Simpson will present the Baker Memorial Lecture.

Local building conservation project

Construction Students introduction to local building conservation project at St Augustine’s Church Broxbourne by Between Time Ltd. John Lloyd and Andrew Chamberlain , local conservation specialists, gave the students and tutors a behind the scenes tour of the conservation repairs to the church tower stonework and trainees Liam and Ryan shared their skills and knowledge with the Apprentices. The training was carries out in conjunction with Jack Dawson (Construction) at Herts Regional College and Grant Pensome (Curate) at St Augustine’s Church.
