Berg Cottage, Barkway for The National Trust.
An experimental scheme of works was carried out for The National Trust with the aim of improving heat retention in a timber frame building. The detrimental cement render to front of building was carefully removed and timber frame repairs carried out. Riven laths fixed with special screws held lambswool insulation within the wall. Lime render was specially mixed by our skilled and experienced craftsmen to match the remnant of historic render and applied in a method to give a good match to the texture.
Our works at Berg Cottage have been frequently used as an example of best practice in the care and repair of old timber frame buildings. |
