About us
We have been described by Architects and clients as “the best kept secret in Hertfordshire” operating “at the cutting edge of conservation”.
Experimental conservation projects have been published in ”Survey and Repair of Old Buildings” by Richard Oxley, as articles in SPAB’s Cornerstone magazine and The RIBA Conservation Review.
We have a full range of in-house trades and teams of skilled craftsmen, led by John Lloyd, Operations Manager.
As a multi-trade craftsman John Lloyd has been carrying out building works to old buildings for more than 23 years. His passionate interest in craft skills and natural materials is supported by considerable personal experience working in lime plasters and renders, soft and hardwoods, stone, brick, flint, lead and other workable metals.
His interest developed from teaching woodwork and metal work skills and subsequently progressed to ground breaking experiments to revive the use of lime for building mortars and plasters. More recently he has headed up experimental conservation work for The National Trust and others.
This strong practical background is matched with a passion for architectural details in old buildings and a determination that they should be repaired and reconstructed in the original manner with as little intrusion from modern materials and techniques as possible.
Business Manager Rowan Lloyd underpins
the company, drawing on a background in the environmental movement and practice of interior designer.
Each contract is allocated to a Contract Manager.
